TBL Preps For Big Week In Vegas After Another Successful Season
10k TO BE GIVEN AWAY DURING SUMMER LEAGUE NEXT WEEK
By Deon Cash
The TBL has been on a serious run over the last few years, gaining more and more popularity recently.
As one of the premiere professional leagues in the states, the TBL has gained its followers and teams on a word of mouth strategy, hard work, and pure execution.
The league started out with 8 teams in 2018 and now has nearly 40 teams throughout the country and in Canada. There is also a Super League (BSL) that was built and now is rolling as well.
The TBL is now going into its 8th year of existence.
Lately the TBL has been going viral for different moments, such as amazing plays and awesome interactions between the front office / players to the fans and businesses.
The Magley family are the owners of the TBL, and they have set a precedent on how the league is run. And make no mistake, it has been a nice, smooth, upward trending ride along the way.
Bear in mind that this is one of the only top tier black owned professional 5 on 5 hoop leagues in the country.
There are players who have started in the TBL and played in the NBA, along with guys who have starred in the G-League and the overseas circuit as well.
Evelyn Magley, the CEO of the TBL, has been the perfect ambassador for the league, as they visit locations all over the country and even in Canada, where they have a host of teams playing as well.
With her radiant smile, her thoughtful speeches, and her willingness to get in the trenches, Magley has been a powerhouse over the years.
Magley is the first ever African-American Female CEO of a All-Male Pro Basketball league.
Her husband, David Magley, is the President and was a stud of a hooper at Kansas before playing in the NBA for Cleveland.
Magley does a lot of the dirty work within the organization, but with a cast of smart, hard working, driven people who believe in Magley and the vision?
The TBL has taken off and now rivals the G-League as the second best pro league in the country.
While the G-League does have the backing of the NBA, the TBL does not.
But the TBL has gained great respect from the NBA, and now the likes of Lindy Waters (Golden State), Kylor Kelley (Oklahoma City) and other hungry hoopers will get to reap the rewards of the grind.
"We're really blessed to have taken this league to this level." Magley said.
"We're also excited for where it can go in the future. We will be giving away $10,000 in Vegas at our summer league this week, so we are thrilled about the growth of the TBL and the BSL. We also get to watch a couple of our former players play in the NBA Summer League, which is a great feeling for veryone involved."
In less than two weekends (August 18-20) the TBL Summer League will jump off, where one team will win 10k this season. This is the most the TBL has ever given for this event.
There's no question that the Magleys' have shown the blueprint for how to build a successful business in a tough environment.
But when your motto is "Where The Spirit of the Game Lives", expect to see some soulful results, and that is what you have seen, which has been a revelation to watch.
