 Cavs Defeat Brooklyn, Land in Summer League Title Game; Mobley, Bates Lead Way;

Will Cooper Return Tonight?

The Cleveland Cavs Summer League team stayed undefeated behind a gutty 102-99 victory over the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas yesterday.

Isaiah Mobley hit a jump hook in the paint to solidify the win and send the Cavs to the championship game after the Nets had whittled the lead from 100-94 to 100-99.

Mobley would get the ball off a pass, and would power to the paint, spin off the defender and drop the winning shot, sending the team into a frenzy.

The Cavs will face the Houston Rockets,  who are also undefeated 5-0 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Vegas at 6pmWest Coast Time (9pmET).

Emoni Bates, the 49th pick of the draft, has shown he is ready for the next level, dropping 20 in the semifinals to go with 7 rebounds and some solid defense as well. Bates should be a plug and play player in the Cavs roatation this year.

Mobley would end with 23 points, 5 boards, and 2 blocks while sniper Sam Merrill dropped 18 as well and helped keep the ship sailing smooth. Pete Nance, brother of former NBA hooper Larry Nance, contributed some key buckets and play, along with Forward Like Travers and PG Porter with a stat sheet stuffer game of 12 points, 7 boards and 7 assists.

Sam Merill Comes Through For Cavs

Sharife Cooper, the Cavs Summer League star PG, was hurt and unable to play last game. While it is unknown if Cooper will play tonight, he has shown he's ready for the next level as well.
