The Almumni Tournament Teams Vying For 20K
With The Alumni Tournament less than a week away from its inaugural launch, the energy is starting to boost up for the high school teams across the buckeye state vying for a chance to win 20k on the basketball court. The event is sponsored by Blue Bird Construction.
The TAT as it is nicknamed, will launch after a few years of planning, as the 1st and 2nd rounds will be at Centerville High School on the 15th & 16th.
Blue Bird Construction is the major sponsor of the event
The championship game will be held at Wooden Gymnasium in Xenia, Ohio on the 22nd.
Alexander Patten, the Owner & CEO of the TAT, was able to get some of the best high school organizations to compete in this years tournament.
Here are the Ohio High School Alumni teams who will be competing in 26:
Caroll will be lead by Xander Smart, Sean McKitrick & Rod Smart. A sleeper team for sure.
Westerville Looks to roll with its ballers from the 2015-17 era featuring All -Ohio hooper Kaleb & Andre Wesson
Xenia, lead by Former All-Ohio hooper Samari Curtis, jumps in the fray
Anna has looked like a real contender, featuring a bevy of hoopers, including legend Phil Hoying
The Skyhawks will ride the leadership of Shaun Monroe among others
The Cats are a favorite, lead by All - Ohio & former NFL WR Danny Davis, Raheim Moss & Mike Wallace
Possibly the most intriguing team in the TAT; can the 3-point NBA Champ in Daequan Cook lead the way?
The Wayne Train will ride the talents of fomer Ohio State WR L'Christian "Blue" Smith & pro Xeyrius Williams
The Rams are loaded, lead by State Champs Amari Davis, Torrey Patton and others
The Aviators will ride the talents of Kort & Cooper Justice, along with a stacked squad
Portsmouth looks to bring its deep roster to the tourney, with the vets (Gerald Froe) hooping with the youngsters (Berry & Breech)
The Yellow Jackets look for All-Ohio G Andre Gordon and Sam Reynolds to lead the squad
The Cougars have a loaded roster. With the likes of Joe Thomasson, Joe Ballard, and Mehki Elmore, this is a team with championship talent.
With guys ranging from playing in the pros now to being All-Ohio hoopers to elite HS hoopers during their day, this is sure to be one exciting weekend shaping up.
Teams have been running scrimmages and such, so expect some high quality hoops next weekend.
