Clark State Men Near Top Of OCCAC After Home Win vs Terra State

Clark State Men Near Top Of OCCAC After Home Win vs Terra State

Clark State Defeats Terra State CC at home Wednesday Night

The Clark State Mens basketball program knocked off another league opponent yesterday, and with the win the Eagles have now won 3 of their last 4 and sit at 6-6 overall, despite the inexplicable loss on a game they had to take this season.

But what is even sweeter is that the Eagles sit alone in 2nd place in the OCAAC for the first time in years.

They are now 4-1 after the big home win last night.

The Eagles outlasted Terra State CC in a battle 98-87 to remain in a tie for second place with Cuyahoga (3-1) and 1 game behind Lakeland (3-0) who was undefeated before the series of games were reported by the league website (as of today).

"These guys are showing they are a special group of young men." Alstork stated.

"No matter who is down or not able to play, once this group hits the court?  They will leave it all on the line. Thats all we can ask for." Alstork would say at practice before the matchup.

Clark State was able to wear down Terra CC as they were able to get a lead and never relinquish it later in the contest.

Moe Fofana was dynamic in the game, and Chris Herbort provided some great numbers and intensity throughout the game, which has seemed to be the staple of the team this season.

No matter the odds, this Eagles team is ready for battle.

Coach Alstork and his esteemed staff have came in and ressurected the boys program.

They will face Owens CC on Saturday as part of a doubleheader on Saturday, with the boys playing at 1 followed by the girls at 3pm at Clark State.

Horizon Academy Defeats DAVA Behind Whitfield, Pinson; Faces Focus Learning Academy Tonight

 Horizon Academy Defeats DAVA Behind Whitfield, Pinson;

Faces Focus Learning Academy Tonight

By Deon Cash

Horizon Science Academy picked up their 2nd win on the season and first at home after a big home win over Dayton Athletic Vocational Academy (DAVA) last week.

It was a 2-man show for the Hawks as they won 65-50 after a frenetic 2nd half.

Horizon would jump out to a 12-0 lead with a barrage of buckets and defensive stops that had DAVA stumbling.

Jay'Mal Whifield led all scorers with 28, while Marcus Pinson dropped 4 3's and had double figures as well.

DAVA would make a run in the 2nd half, cutting the lead to single digits, and coming within a couple of possessions of making the game a close finish.

However Whifield and Pinson dominated the 4th quarter, to help seize the win.

Horizon Head Coach Jessie Watts was pleased with the win, as his team showed desire and grit from the start.

Focus Learning Academy of Northern Columbus is who Horizon will be facing tonight (6:30pm).

The pre-game show will start at 6:20, followed by the game.

The game will be Streamed on Sportseffect Live Sports Show / Fan Page Tonight (Facebook).

Clark State Men Hoops Starts New Year With a Big Road Win

Clark State Men Hoops Starts New Year With a Big Road Win at Lorain

       Eagles Now 3-1 in OCCAC

The Clark State Eagles went on the road and started the new years right with a big victory by the score of 111-106 over Lorain County Community College.

With the win Clark State sits at 3-1 in the OCCAC and has a legitimate chance at a conference title.

After a tough loss right before the new year and a inexplicable forfeit (due to upper management not turning in paperwork on time for a game Clark State won earlier this season) the Eagles and Head Coach Quinton Alstork felt like they needed to start off the new years on a positive note.

"These guys definitely want to be a factor in the conference title chase. They came in during the break and worked hard, and despite losing the last game and a couple of players due to injuries and grades, they have remained focused.

A big win for our program moving forward."

Alstork would say after a hard fought game.

The Eagles will have back to back home games as they will host Terra State Wednesday before taking on rival Owens Community College on Saturday.
