When it comes to the launch of the new NBA2K League, there has been no organization better suited for the opportunity to partner up with the NBA affiliated League than the MPBA.
More notably, the 2 guys who started the idea a few years ago, which has become the unquestioned leader of myplayer competition for the best players in the NBA2k Circuit.
They go by the name of Ivan Curtiss and Toijuin Fairley and they comprise of the powerhouse gaming corporation (MPBA) that features most of the NBA2kLeague players in the inagurual season. Thousands of players competed in their leagues and tourneys on their website on a daily basis.
MPBA stands for the MyPlayer Basketball Association, and they are responsible for some of the best NBA2k MyPlayer tourneys and leagues in the world.
Bar none.
Curtiss, from Dayton, Ohio, is a former hooper who had a affinity for gaming, and saw the future, which prompted him to enter the gaming world with Fairley.
Fairley, from Mississippi, also loved the game, and wanted to create something in the gaming industry, which prompted him to launch the site.
The site was created in 2015. Although it was a slow start, Curtiss and Fairley stayed with the gameplan.
By 2017 the organization had all of the top players in their events, and once the NBA2k brass announced the upcoming league in the Spring of '18, it was a "Wait and See" approach for Curtiss and Fairley.
Would they be invited to the NBA2kLeague? If so, how would they be involved?
Or would they get shut out of the festivities and be forced to create their own?
But the numbers didn't lie, and once the NBA2KLeague staff assessed where the top players were playing outside of its own pro-am in NBA2k18?
MPBA knew they would be getting a call.
It started with calls from the different NBA organizations about players, the league, etc, to get some scouting info on the players.
Who would know the top players better than MPBA?
Not many.
Which is why after the dust settled the Milwaukee Bucks decided to pick up the dynamic duo to be the draft experts for their NBA2kLeague organization, Bucks GG.
Curtiss and Fairley were hired as Draft Consultants initially, and they would help the Bucks GG staff make their picks for the Inaugural draft.
In the initial draft, it is noted that 15 of the 17 1st round picks of the 18' draft played in the MPBA.
And 70 of its 102 initial players overall.
The numbers don't lie.
Once the draft was held, Curtiss and Fairley was still on cloud nine.
To have 70% of the league and 85% of the 1st round come from their own league?
Domination.

Which prompted the Bucks to hire Fairley and Curtiss for the inagural season. Curtiss is the Community Manager, while Fairley is the Operations Analyst for the Bucks GG.
"We feel blessed to be in this position." Curtiss stated. We worked hard to get to this spot. We appreciate NBA2k for the opportunity.
Now we want that first NBA2kLeague Title."
When asked about the team they drafted, Curtiss responded,
"We are very happy with the team we drafted. We feel like we have the players and game style that can put us in title contention this season."
Curtiss also will be co-hosting a weekly Gaming Show, which will be launching the debut tomorrow, the weekend of the Season Openers for the NBA 2k League, which plays it's Games in New York City.
