The Basketball League Crowns Summer League Champion with a 10K Check
By Deon Cash
The Basketball League has been on a rapid rise towards becoming one of the top Basketball Leagues in the country.
After completing the 7th season, they held their 5th annual Summer League Showcase in Las Vegas, just minutes from the strip.
After 3 exciting, intense, grueling days of action, a champ was crowned Saturday night.
The winning team was Coached by Bryan Fraser, who recently coached in the G-League with the Rip City Remix and Stockton Kings.
Fraser was ecstatic about the win, honoring his dad in the process.
His father passed away just last week.
"This championship is special in the fact that we had a conversation before his passing."
He told me, "Make sure you continue to coach with a passion. Everybody can't coach. You have a gift."
While they did win, it was not easy.
They survived a great championship game, winning in the final minute to secure the 10k.
Here is the roster of the winners of the event:
5- Joshua Harrison
82- Lybryant Robinson
50- K.J. Walker
75- Edward Oliver Hampton
26 - Tyrell Coleman
43 - Brandon Hanson
177 - Darius Paul
The check was given to the TBL by the sponsor Pierre Accounting.
Eric Pierre, the CEO of Pierre Accounting, talked about being the major sponsor for the event.
"It was nice to be able to give that back to the TBL and the Summer League. We're looking to help elevate our brand and this league.
This was a great summer league experience for the business." Pierre would state during the camp.
Evelyn Magley, the Owner of the TBL, would give the checks to the winning team, and was a great ambassador for the event all weekend long.
While it was a big time hoop summer league, it was much more to it, as officials had a clinic featuring former NBA & WNBA refs and current G-League, college and high school officials.
There were also pro scouts from different organizations and countries as well, along with a bevy of TBL owners and general managers on hand.
David Magley, the CEO of the TBL, Was very pleased with the result of the camp, which featured nearly 200 hoopers from all over the country.
"We're very happy with the results and we will continue to push what we feel is one of the best Basketball Leagues in the country." Magley would state after the event.
