Clark State Knocks Off #1 Cuyahoga; Back on 3 Game Winning Streak; Dunn, Miller, Thompson Come up Clutch

Clark State Knocks Off  #1 Cuyahoga, Back on 3-Game Winning Streak; Dunn, Miller, Thompson Come up Clutch

The Clark State Eagles has been on a roller coaster ride this season, and once again, they are on the good side of the tracks as they knocked off one of the top teams in the OCCAC with a thrilling 106-98 victory to keep their hopes alive in a tough conference against a elite team.

In a game where the intensity was high and the stakes were even higher, Clark State lead by a small margin at half. Lakeland and Clark State would trade battles all night long.

In the decisive moments, with the game tied late, G-F Brandon Miller, the Eagles sophomore leader,  hit a tough layup to give the Eagles the lead. Lakeland would miss on their attempt, and G Tabias Thompson would seal the deal with two clutch free throws to grab the win it the decisive moments.

"That was sensational effort by the team. We knew what we had to do, and we got it done. To lose multiple starters and still continue to fight and knock off the top team?  I'm so proud of my boys, and now we have to keep that momentum." Coach Alstork stated.

Starters Isaiah Richardson (F)  had a good game with a double double (14 pts, 13 reb, 2 blks) along with guard Nnamdi Ajaezu (17pts, 7 reb, 4 stls)  while subs Trevor Platton (5 three pointers, 16pts),  Jaden Dunn (16 pts, 9 dimes, 2 stls), Omar Banks (10 pts) and F-C Julius Pullen (15 pts, 6 reb) provided some great bench production.  Add a starter back to the mix in Jarmaine Tubbs and now the Eagles could be ready for a late run for a tournament bid.

The Eagles are now 11-7 and sit in 3rd place in the conference. With 5 teams who have 3 losses or less, the OCCAC is still up for grabs entering the 2nd half and stretch run of the season.

"We have to stay grounded and grind every game. We are getting healthy, and  we have to focus on one game at a time. We are right there. we have to finish strong." Alstork stated after the big win.

Ricky White III Set For Super Bowl Appearance With Seattle in Rookie Year

Ricky White III, Seahawks WR,  Defeat Rams, Head to Super Bowl vs Patriots

White's Father was PG on City League Champion Team

by Deon Cash

Ricky White Jr was a smooth point guard who lead the Patterson Beavers to a City League Championship in the 90s.

Now he gets the joy of watching his son play in the biggest football game in the world this weekend.

Ricky White III, a rookie WR who plays for the Seattle Seahawks, will have a chance to be apart of  the Super Bowl this weekend.

White Jr. played in the Dayton Public Schools circuit in the 90s, and help hoist one of the only City League titles for Patterson in his senior year.

White Jr. would play in college, before focusing on his kids and their careers as time moved on.

His first born son, Ricky White III, was a "Can't Miss" prospect (WR - KR - PR) out of the Georgia area. He took his talents to the D-1 level, finishing out at UNLV with some All-American type numbers.

He would be a All-League selection at UNLV, get invited to Senior Day, and would take advantage of all the opportunities with a chance to play for the Seattle Seahawks after being drafted in the 7th round.

White has been solid in his first season, and the Seahawks, with the addiditon of Sam Darnold, has elevated to Super Bowl status.

White Jr. would post a video celebrating on the field after the victory on Sunday night.

Congrats to the White family and his son, as White Jr has a bright future in the NFL with the Seahawks.

Guess winning titles is nothing new to the White family, who also have some daughters who are  throroughbreds in the track department and are setting records all over the place as well.

While the White family has suffered some heartbreaking tragedy, they definitely will remember this amazing moment as White III prepares with the team for a chance to win a Super Bowl.

"I'm really proud of him. I tell him all the time." White Jr would say, as he is beaming with pride.

Seattle will face New England on February 8th in the Super Bowl at 6:20pm.
