HALL, GAMECOCKS READY FOR CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLE VS UCONN, UNDEFEATED AURIEMMA
What a difference a year can make.
Bree Hall, just a year ago, was gracing herself in the McDonald's All American game after one of the most celebrated careers at Wayne HS in Ohio when she dominated and led them to a Regional Final berth.
She was completely unstoppable all season, and with the coaching and leadership of Indiana hoop legend (now Wright State college coach Travis Trice) the sky was the limit.
Literally.
So when Dawn Staley and her lead assistant slid through the gym like a secondary scout during a regular season game, you knew something was stewing in the pot.
Not long after that, Hall would make her decision official, as she took a visit, love it, and would commit to South Carolina to play with the Top team in the nation (#1 in last years rankings).
South Carolina would lose in heartbreaking fashion in the Final Four last year, setting the table up this year. The loss was similar to how Hall and her ultra talented squad would fall to K.K. Bransford and the Mt Notre Dame Cougars in a incredible Regional Final.
This year, Hall has had her moments, and is a much needed role player in her first season at South Carolina. With stars all throughout the lineup, Staley needed someone off the bench this season who could do any and everything she needed so when these moments come up?
Look for Hall to the rescue.
And not meaning she will save the game, but she will do exactly what is asked at an elite level, which will be to play great D, hit the open shot, make smart decisions, and bring that frenetic energy that few have like her.
But make no mistake; if Breezy Hall gets her chance to shine? She will be ready for it. The lights were bright at first, but she is good and ready to go.
With so much on the line, Staley and star big Aliyah Boston looks to put the only blemish on the legend Geno Auriemma record and almost try to take the torch from the UConn coach. With a clutch player like Paige Bueckers on hand, UConn has their top gunner ready for this championship war.
But expect to see the same Bree Hall in the National Championship Game tonight. Only better.
Staley and the staff has been pleased with her development, and know exactly what they have in their hands with Hall.
The world will see it tonight, if they haven't.
South Carolina vs UConn starts tonight at 8pm on ESPN.
