Clark State Men, Women Grab Home Wins in Openers

 Clark State Men and Women played earlier this week. Here are the results of the games.



Lady Eagles Basketball Moves to 2-0 After Home Win 

The Clark State Lady Eagles moved to 2-0 on the season after a convincing win at home. 

The women would stop Marian Ancilla as they jumped out to a early lead they would never relinquish.

With the win it gives the Lady Eagles hope that this could be a breakout season for Coach Steinke and his squad.


Boys Roll Past OU Lancaster For Alstork's First Win as a College Head Coach 

Coach Quinton Alstork enjoyed his first win of the season and his college coaching career as his Eagles team dismantled Lancaster 110-86. 

With the key players playing up to task, the coaching staff focusing on the task and the crowd being energetic? Clark State had a great season opening vibe. 

Clark State would take a 64-48 lead at half after a spirited start and never look back. 

In the game, Head Coach Quinton Alstork recorded his first win Freshman Chris Herbort, Mo Fofana and Sophomore Mauricio Diaz were the key players in getting a good start and pushing the lead up to nearly 20 before the half.

"I like the way the team came out, we came out hard and played defense and executed. It felt good to start my college coaching careeer 1-0. We had a great crowd and i want to thank everyone for all the support." Coach Alstork stated.

With Celebrity guest (OG King Curt) who is the General Manager and Coach of the NBA2k League Nets GC team in the building, the night turned out good for the Eagles mens and womens team.

Springfield Sports Preview; Clark State Hoops Make Home Debut; Wildcat Way Series Playoff Mode Show Tonight; Northeastern Back;

 With Springfield sports in full swing, here is the schedule of a big night and week in sports for the city.


Clark State Women Look to Improve on Season Opening win at Rio Grande


The Clark State Women basketball team got off to a great start in route to a solid road win against Rio Grande last weekend. Coach Steinke and his Lady Eagles will take on Marian Ancillia tonight (4pm ET). 

"We didnt play well early in the season opener, but we finished strong and got the w. We hope to correct that late start tonight at home." Steinke said this weekend in a brief interview. 

His Lady Eagles team have high aspirations this season and legitimately have some D-1 and D-2 talent on the squad. 

The game will start at 4pm ET at Clark State Gymnasium. 


New Era Begins Tonight as Alstork Leads Eagles Against OU Lancaster

Quinton Alstork, the new head coach of Clark State, will lead his troops into the regular season tonight as they face O.U. Lancaster at home. 

Alstork, who led the team to a 5-1 record in preseason, will look to get off to a good start tonight as well. 

The game will take place immediately after the ladies game tonight. It is set to start at 6pm.

"We excited for the season to start. The team has put in a lot of hard work. Now we need to transfer that on the court this season." Alstork would say. 

With his brother on the staff with him (Mark Alstork) and veteran coach Mark Parker, Alstork feels he has a great staff to start the season with. 

WILDCAT WAY SERIES RESUMES DURING OHSAA PLAYOFFS AT O'CONNERS 


The Wildcat Way Series resumes as Coach Maurice Douglass will bring the Cats to come and talk sports with us at O'Conners Irish Pub from 6-8pm.


Springfield took out Wayne last week and will face GWOC champions Centerville on Friday night.

Northeastern will rejoin the series as coach Buchholtz and his team enjoyed a 14-7 victory over Greenview. 

The show will start around 6pm ET and end around 730pm ET.

 Northeastern Football Joins Wildcat Way Series as They Ready For OHSAA Playoffs

The Northeastern HS Football team came on the set of Wildcat Way Series (S.E.Live 365 Springfield) to talk about the OHSAA playoffs and more this week. 

At O'Conners Restaurant on Limestone St, Northeastern Coach Buchholtz, the 2022-23 Coach of The Year, would talk about the success of last year, coupled with the continued success of this season. 

"We must be able to do what we gameplan to do and we can't turn the ball over. We are a small town who rallies around teams so we expect it to be a great atmosphere Friday night." 

As far as his opnion on OHSAA adding a extra week of football: 

"If these kids get one more chance to play this game, then I'm all for it. Some of these kids won't get to play college ball, so this will be their last home game."

The Northeastern football team also came on set to discuss the game, life at Northeastern and much more.

Northeastern will play at home tonight at 7pm ET in the 1st round of the OHSAA Playoffs.

Game of the Year - Part 2? Springfield Coaches Talk Wayne, OHSAA Playoffs, Wildest Game Ever? Mike and Mike Edition

 Springfield Coaches Mike Shaw and Mike Page came on set of Wildcat Way series and talked about the big weekend as OHSAA Football round 1 kicks off tonight. 

Wayne and Springfield arguably had the craziest game of the year in all of high school sports in week 4.  

Wayne scored the game-winner on a Jussiah Williams-West kickoff return just moments after Aaron Scott directed a incredible 70+ yard TD pass to RB Jaivian Norman to give the Cats the lead with 20 seconds left.

Northeastern also came on the show and talked about their matchup as well. 

Coach Buchholtz was the OHSAA Coach of the Year last season, and has kept up the winning ways with a 7-3 record this season and a first round home game, which is huge for them.

 Clark State Women Team Looks Good In Final Scrimmage; 

Faces Rio Grande in Season Opener Friday 


The Clark State Women program could be headed for a very good season, as they wrapped up their final scrimmage with a resounding victory last night.

The Lady Eagles took down Rio Grande in front of a nearly packed house at Clark State. 

Coach Corey Steinke would talk after the game.

"We played well tonight. We got some work to do but our girls came out and executed what we wanted to do. We know we will see them on Friday, so we will prepare for that matchup." 

Kayla Reeves, Megan Bailey and Day Day Kimble led the Lady Eages in the big win.

In speaking with the Rio Grande coach, she was pleased with the effort in the 2nd half, but knows they need to play better.

"We have to find someone to step up and take the key shots and be able to make plays. We have a young team, but we will get back to work and prep for the season opener on Friday. 

Clark State will go to Rio Grande on Friday for the season opener for both teams.

Clark State Defeats Air Force in Scrimmage, Stays Undefeated In Preseason; Readies For Central State Monday

Clark State Mens Basketball was able to gain another solid victory in the preseason. 

The Eagles Mens squad defeated the Air Force Base Team by a score of 82-75 at Clark State Gymnasium on Wednesday night. 



With the win they improve to 5-0 on the preseason. 

They will face Central State Saturday in a big test for the Eagles. 

Mo Fantana was the leading scorer with 25 for the Eagles in their 5th consecutive win. Recio Diaz and Chris Herbot also were key contributors in helping Clark State garner the win.


Coach Alstork was pleased and thinks that when he gets his full roster, he will have a team that could be a real factor in the concference and possibly have hopes of reaching the JUCO National Tournament.

"Im happy with the progress, but we still got a lot of work to do. We're very excited to play Central State to see where we are before the season starts." Alstork stated.

 Clark State Mens Team "Performs Well" in First Scrimmage On the Road Under New Head Coach 



The Clark State mens basketball team went on the road to start their season with new head coach Quinton Alstork and the staff leading the 2023-24 Eagles season.

In a multi-team scrimmage at Owens Community College, Clark State left out with wins in all three scrimmages to leave the exhibition undefeated and the coaching staff feeling positive.  

Clark State would face Tera College, Lansing Community College and Dohn Prep on the day. 

In one of the games, Clark State was down 20 points at one point in the scrimmage, only to come back and win the game. 

Coach Alstork was proud of what he saw in the first scrimmage.

"To come up here and go undefeated without all of our players, especially after being down 20 in a game? We was proud and encouraged in what we saw today." 

When asked who were some of the key players in the scrimmage, the names Will Hill, Recio Diaz, Mo Fantana and Chris Herbot came to mind.

"Those guys played well for us." Alstork stated.
