Fever Notch 5th Straight Win Behind Clarks Triple Double; Face Minnesota Tonight

Fever Notch 5th Straight Win Behind Boston, Clarks Triple Double; Face Minnesota Tonight

 By Deon Cash

The Indiana Fever continue to stay hot, after a 5th consecutive win and now sit at 18-16 after a big home win against the last place L.A. Sparks.

The Big 3 of the Fever continued their top tier play as Caitlyn Clark remained on fire with a triple-double (24-10-10), and now is the 1st rookie to have multiple triple doubles and has hit the most 3's ever for a rookie.

Kelsey Mitchell had another electric outing while hitting clutch shots time and time again. Aliyah Boston provided the interior force with 24 points, 14 boards, and that great passing that helps free up the offense whenever it feels stagnant.

Nalyssa Smith, a consistent 4th option, added 14 points and 3 blocks as well.

The game was close throughout as Dearica Hamby led the Sparks to a slight lead at half. Hamby finished with 16 points to lead the Sparks.

But in the 2nd half the Fever controlled the tempo and the game, and would go on a run late in the 3rd to secure the lead for good. While the game would remain close for L.A., the clutch moments of Mitchell, Clark, and Boston were too much for the Sparks to overcome.

The Fever now are 18-16 and have clinched a playoff berth. Clark was named the Rookie and the Co-WNBA player of the Month, while coach Kirstie Sides was named the Coach of the Month.

With the win the Fever sit in the #6 spot, ahead of Phoenix (17-17) who they have the tiebreaker advantage (3-0) against.

UP NEXT: MINNESOTA

The Fever will test their win streak against the team to gave them their last loss: The Minnesota Lynx.

The Lynx are still fighting for a chance at the #1 spot and defeated the Fever 90-80 a couple weeks ago.

If the WNBA playoffs started today, this would be the 1st round playoff matchup.
