By Deon Cash
Derrick Shepard, arguably the greatest football player in Meadowdale Lions HS history, has stepped down as the head coach after 1 season per reports.
After a meeting with DPS ADs, Shepard decided to focus on his family. He has a son whos a sophomore on the UC football team and a freshman daughter who is making waves in the basketball circuit.
This makes the 5th Top Tier coach from the Miami Valley who has left the DPS Program in the recent years, including the likes of Peter Pullen, Earl White, Jim Place, Darren Powell, and now Shepard.
There are reports that Ponitz basketball coach and Patterson legend Allen Spears will be stepping down as well, but that has not been confirmed as of today.
Shepard led the Lions to a 3-7 record last season.
