Carman To Bengals, Will Uphold "Coach Gil" Legacy; Miamisburg Product to Pack; BBGL Super Bowl Matchup; Hoop Showcase 22nd-23rd; New Rule for DPS;

Former Pee Wee Lions Player Will Continue To Honor "Coach Gil" As Carman Readies for NFL

Jackson Carman, one of the key pieces to the incredible run at Clemson with #1 pick Trevor Lawrence at the helm, has a new home in the NFL.

Almost a homecoming, of sorts.

Carman was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2nd round last weekend.

And by most experts. It looks like the Bengals received great value and have received great reviews for snagging one of the anchors of the Tigers powerful offensive line.

Carman, from the Cincinnati area in Fairfield, Ohio, has some Dayton ties as he played for the Meadowdale Pee Wee Lions in his early career. He took mentoring from the likes of current Lions Varsity Assistant Coach Doug Spears and other good coaches on that great Lions Wee staff.

But when Carman found out that one of his influential coaches from the program in Jerrold Gilbert had passed, he took it hard.

He has since said that he vows to honor “Coach Gil" and his legacy. Carman made it to the funeral, and has always embraced the Lions family as one that helped him get his “Feet On The Ground" and learn the game and life the right way.

Carman will be a starter for years to come in the NFL, as he was a anchor on a great offensive line that won two College Football Championships and reached three Championship Games in Jackson’s tenure. The 6’7 beast of a lineman should be a plug and insert player in the pros. The Bengals maybe got their next Anthony Munoz. We might be setting the bar high, but this guy is up to the task.

Miamisburg Grad Josh Meyers Taken By Packers

The Miamisburg Vikings have another NFL guy to hang their hats on, as Ohio State offensive lineman Josh Meyers was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the NFL Draft in Day 2.

Meyers, who anchored the Vikings to playoff berths in his tenure at Miamisburg, was the center of the Ohio State offensive line that vaunted offense that came one win away from a BCS Championship.

Meyers is a intelligent guy who had a good relationship with Justin Fields and Coach Ryan Day, and his work ethic put him in a elite category in itself. Meyers worked hard to get his body right and earn a starting spot. Once he got in the rotation, he never left.

Interesting enough, the question remians; Will Meyers be blocking for the great Aaron Rodgers? Or will it be for young upstart Jordan Love?

Whoever it is you can best believe the Miamisburg product will be ready. Congrats to Meyer and his family.

BBGL Super League (Super Bowl 2) Features Daren C, Brooks as Packers, Bills Go At It

The Big Boy Gamer League hosted its 2nd SuperLeague Super Bowl as D. Brooks (Bills) and Daren C. (Packers) went at it in Madden 21 on Playstation 4/5.

DAREN C (PACKERS)

D. BROOKS  (BILLS)

Both teams had very good years as Daren C went 13-3 while Brooks went 15-1 in the Regular Season. Brooks had the top seed last season before being knocked off by Season 1 SuperLeague Champion Antonio McWhite and the Denver Broncos.

This Super Bowl shows the depth and quality of the SuperLeague, as the reigning 3-Time Champion of the BBGL Leagues haven’t reached the Super Bowl yet in Carl Darden. Darden, who has dominated the previous BBGL Madden League, has had 2 good seasons but has faltered in the playoffs.

In the two Super Bowls, there has been 4 different teams, which shows the type of serious talent in the League.

The new season will start tonight, and there are a couple spots still available.

DPS Athletics Institutes New Transfer Rule Dayton

Dayto. Public Schools has implemented a new, self imposed rule, which they hope to clean up the yearly transferring from one school to another.

The Rule is simple: If you transfer from School to School in the DPS Program, you will have to sit out a whole calendar year from playing athletics for the school you are transferring to.

This rule is unprecedented as nobody in Southwest Ohio has this.

While some people feel it will work, there are some who are concerned. Will this affect in a negative or positive way? What happens if you simply move into another area and have to go to another school?

While there are questions that remain, DPS Athletics feels this is a way to stop kids from transferring from school to school just to “stack teams.”

While OHSAA has there own penalty for transferring, which is already stiff, DPS has decided to do that one stiffer by taking out the entire season.

Remember, this is right after the kids have just missed a season due to Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, and then after they played literally half a season in every sport this school year.
