Patient Patton Proves He’s No Fluke as Vikings in Championship Game
Snubbed Star Has Vikings, His Career, In Good Spot By Deon Cash
Since that moment Patton has been on a roller coaster of a ride. He would:
(1) Set the record for most points scored in OHSAA D-2 State Championship Game History in a loss to LeBrons old school.
(2) He then would sign with Akron after local teams fallback.
(3) He would transfer to a JUCO after a year at Akron, where he would regain his swagger and be a All-American.
(4) He would sign at Cleveland State after local teams Wright State and Dayton looked past him again.
(5) He was snubbed off the All Horizon League last year which pissed him off.
(6) His team was picked to be nowhere near the Championship before the season started.
Patton, one of the softest spoken people you will ever meet, understands all of the circumstances, and is able to compartmentalize it, which is why, when the Vikings are down late, they never panic.
The team is intense, but late in the game, they take on Patton’s personality, and you see the real savage in Patton.
Patton wont wow you with athleticism. But he will wow you with his toughness and his intelligence, and his great knack for scoring in big moments.
He also is a jack of all trades, as evidenced of himself being the leading rebounder on the team, as he had a game high 13 yesterday to go with the game high 14 points.
Bear in mind that Patton is 6’5. He’s a combo guard and small forward.
Patton, who did garner votes for player of the year, is best when everything is on the line, which is why he has really caught the eyes of a few NBA Scouts.
He’s the top scorer in late game and tie/ go ahead situations in the entire Horizon League.
No matter what happens with Patton’s Vikings in the Horizon League Championship game, Patton has shown that:
(1) If u snub him, or look past him, you will pay.
(2) He has been a true professional in handling his business.
Case in point: The Vikings looked like they were done in the Horizon League Semifinals against Milwaukee, until Patton hot going, along with others. They came back late, won the final 5 minutes of the game, and now sit patiently and quietly in the Championship.
I wouldn’t bet against this guy.
Now people seeing why LeBron almost hand picked him to play at Akron.
Good luck to Patton and the Vikings as they go for a NCAA Berth.
