 Eagles Fall in Wild Game Back From Break, Ends Winning Streak; 

Will Face League Leading Lakeland Today 

The Clark State Eagles came out of the holiday break with a fast start, but Terra State used a huge 3rd quarter run to walk away with a upset win in Springfield Wednesday night. 

The loss ends the Eagles 7-game winning streak, spanning back over 60+ days. 

Despite having 2 starters out, Clark State jumped out to a 19-point lead, as they used their pressure defense and fast pace tempo to jump out to a double digit lead at half.

In the 3rd quarter Terra State would start to make the comeback,  taking the lead midway through the 4th and holding a 6-point lead with just 3 minutes to go.

Clark State would make a final push, tying the game up on a Tabias Thompson 3-pointer. With the score tied at 94, Terra State would get fouled at half court on a questionable call on the final possession, sending them to the line with 5-seconds remaining. 

They would miss the 1st free throw, then hit the 2nd to take the lead and secure the win.

Clark State had a shot on the final possession but the 3-pointer by Trevor Platton was slightly off. 

Terra State would celebrate the win, moving their record to 5-2 in the conference, while Clark State falls to 3-1 in OCCAC play. 

"We let this game get away. We cannot have that happen again." Coach Quinton Alstork stated.

Today the Eagles will face Lakeland at home, one of the leaders in the OCCAC. They are one of the leaders in the conference (4-1).  It is a doubleheader.

"We need some players to step it up. The effort and intensity was there. We lost a couple of guys to injuries and things. Some guys have to elevate their game. We have to finish the game. There is no excuses for losing that game." Alstork would add. 

The Eagles will face Lakeland today at 11am, followed by the women at 1pm ET.

NOTES:

Trotwood senior G Chase Shumate was at the game, as the Eagles are a possible landing spot for the explosive senior guard. 

Curtis Enis, one of the greatest running backs in the history of OHSAA sports, was officiating the game. He was a star RB at Mississinawa Valley before heading to star at Penn State during the Joe Paterno days.

Eagles Face Terra State Tonight at Home

The Clark State Eagles basketball teams are back in action today vs Terra State. 

The Eagles men team are riding a 7-game winning streak.  They haven't played in a couple weeks, as the games that they had were postponed or cancelled.

The men will play tonignt at 7pm while the ladies play at 5pm.

"We have to stay sharp." Coach Quinton Alstork stated.

"We have had a longer layoff than expected. We have to set the tone for the 2nd half of the season." 

The Eagles came out and haven't looked back since a early weekend in Detroit. 

They are 8-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference. They sit alone in 1st place.  They have had multiple guys be players of the week. They have dropped over 140 points in a game. They havent lost since November 9th, spanning nearly 60 days. 

There is a lot to be proud about, but that could change quickly if the Eagles don't stay on track.

They will face some stiff competition in the OCCAC,  starting tonight with Terra State. They are 4-2 in the conference. Then on Saturday they face Lakeland at home (11am) ET. 

The girls play at 5 tonight while the boys play afterwards.

Admission is free and the atmosphere will be very exciting this evening.

Last OHSAA hoop season the Ontario Warriors won 7 games and had a rough season by all accounts. 

While it wasn't pretty, there were a few bright spots. 

 The team was led by a promising group of youngsters who had excelled in freshmen Cardae Brown and Trindon Flenoury.

Head coach Jerry Moton inserted the fabulous freshmen into the Warriors starting line-up in the backcourt. The rest was history. 

Brown and Flenoury would have stellar freshman seasons, both averaging over 14ppg while showing flashes of what could be. While the team wasn't good, the future was set. 

Well, in just one short year, the Warriors are now  9-0, coming off key victories against Shelby & Lexington and sitting atop the conference. 

Brown and Flenoury have taken their games to another level. And its easy to see why. 

Brown, a 6'2 power combo guard, was a all-state selection last season. He has worked hard on his offensive efficiency and the results speak for themselves: 

23ppg, 3 rpg, 2-3 3ptrs pg, 2 stlspg, 40% 3-point  

Brown has been dominant from the tipoff of the  OHSAA season.  He started out with a 25-point (6 3's) performance and has since added four more 20 point games, including a clutch 29-point game recently.  

He has a knack for making big baskets, and can score at all 3 levels. He has a legit post game, is a bully in the paint, & isn't afraid to turn up his student section, as he plays with fire. 

He is embracing the role of being a leader for this team. And doing it flawlessly given his age. 

Flenoury, a 5'11 athletic, playmaking sniper, also has been dynamic and unstoppable this season, as he has had multiple 20-point games while leading the conference 3pt % & fg % in the season.

 And get this: 

He's the reigning steals leader from last season.

His coach called him the "defensive stopper" earlier this season.  

 This year he is averaging 4 steals per game. Throw in 18ppg, with 4 rpg, with some quick twitch,  "steph curry esque" shot making style and some athleticism that will wow you. 

Flenoury is Top 15 in dunks and assists this season. 

While these two guys have been the force, the development of multifaceted junior forward Jamir Jones & sophomore big Trey Remy has been key as well.

Coach Jerry Moton wants to keep them focused on one game at a time. 

"We can't overlook anyone on the schedule. We have to come ready to play every night." 

The Warriors were hunting last season. Now, they're the hunted. They have two road games this weekend. Can they survive? 

How quickly things can change if hard work turns into results, then pressure is applied. Watch out for a couple of diamonds in the rough. 

Can the young, talented, hungry, core of Ontario continue to make noise in Northern Ohio and make a legit run at a State berth? Don't be suprised to see them in the OHSAA D-4 State Top 10 soon.

 Red Hot Pirates to Play on Cleveland Cavaliers Floor in High School Showcase Friday

The West Carrollton Pirates, winners of 2 straight games and 6 of their last 7, has resumed playing in the High School Showcase that is held at the Cleveland Cavaliers home court. 

The Pirates, who now are 6-3 after a 0-2 start, will play Ringgold HS (PA) at 3:30 today at Rocket Mortgage Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. 

Coach Anthony Parker, now in his 8th season at the helm, has added a familiar face in the coaching staff - one that coached him in his hooping days. 

Art Winston, the legendary coach who led Jefferson to multiple OHSAA titles, has joined the staff.

They also have a senior leader who has stepped up his game, as 6'7 C Joseph Ingram has started to get back on track.

 Ingram, a inside force, who dominated last year, has had 5 double doubles in the last 6 games. The two sport star is averaging 14ppg and 11rpg on the season. 

Ingram already has multiple offers for football & basketball. 

Coach Parker knows that his team needs to show up early to give them a chance to get a w on the Cavs Floor and some more momentum during the current win streak.

The Cavaliers will play at 7pm as they look to prepare for the playoff run. They are nearing the All-Star Break and while Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley have been in all-star form, the team results haven't been as good as last year. 

"This is a great chance for our kids to get some statewide exposure with the only NBA basketball team in Ohio. Its huge and we appreciate them continuing to allow us to play in the showcase. It's nice to be back in it after missing it last year. We want to thank the Cavs for the opportunity." Coach Parker said.

The Clark State Eagles won at home to win their 7th in a row as they defeated Ohio Valley Community Christian College 101-76 Wednesday night. 

With the win the Eagles are atop the OCCAC standings at 8-2 & 3-0. It says 2-0 on the website but that hasn't been updated yet. 

Nnamdi Ajaezu (24) and Brandon Cromer (19)  continued their excellent play, leading the team to the win. 

"We have to keep up the defensive pressure. When we do that, we play our best ball. " Nnamdi Ajaezu said after the game.  Ajaezu recently was the Player of the Week. 

Coach Quinton Alstork spoke after the game on the program's longest winning streak (7) in decades:

"It feels good, were pleased with the win and we made progress tonight. But we can't get complacent. We have to keep pushing and working harder. We have a big road test this weekend."   

The Eagles winning streak includes being 8-0 vs Ohio teams. The Eagles lost in Detroit twice in a early season road Invitational. 

They haven't lost since they came back to Ohio.

Now will be their biggest test as they head northeast to face Cuyahoga today. They have not had much success on this trip.

Can the Eagles continue on their tear and win their 8th straight today?

The Clark State Eagles have won 6 in a row, and now sit at 7-2 with 2 more games to go before holiday break.

 That record is tops in the OCCAC. 

Tonight they will play the 1st of the last two, as they will face a tough opponent at home in a solo game.

The Eagles have been lead by guards Brandon Cromer, Nnamdi and Dumaka Ajaezu,  and Richardson this season, as all have had dominating performances along with others on the team. 

They will face Ohio Valley Community College in a non conference battle. 

"We want to keep it rolling. There is no time for complacency." Coach Quinton Alstork stated.

New Football Series to Debut With Buckeye Legends

 50 Years of Dayton Football To Debut With Former Buckeyes John Lumpkin, Dee Miller on ABC Today 

Two guys who were apart of the Buckeye tradition will launch the new show that will hit the Dayton TV and online airwaves, starting today.

Dee Miller, the super talented WR from Springfield HS, and John Lumpkin, the beast of a TE that played basketball and football, sat on the inagural show. They both enjoyed success and failure during their regime and talk openly about both.

While the topic was more about Ohio State vs Michigan, they did discuss the evolution of the NIL, how college has changed, and other got topics that are on the landscape.

The show will air on ABC on Saturday mornings at 11am, then will be re-aired on the S.E.Live Network on Sunday. Check out S.E.Live365 website and social media for more information. 

Were extremely excited to bring this to the masses in Ohio. After watching the 50 Years of Dayton Hoops, a variety of players, coaches and fans have reached out about this.
