Sports Brand Looks to Honor Top Student Athletes in Ohio in 2025

Starting next week, S.E.Live365 has partnered with Dayton 24-7 Now and multiple businesses to launch the S.E.Live "Hoop Stars Of the Week" Series.

The "Hoop Stars Of The Week" Series will feature not only individual student-athletes for their superior work, but teams, coaches, cheerleaders and marching bands, who are in the Youth, Middle school, High School and College departments in different cities in Ohio and eventually, across the country.

There will also be a "Hoop Stars Video of the Week" Series that will be featured every week on the new S.E. Live365 / Dayton 24-7 Sports Podcast that will be launching in conjunction, which will be featured on itunes, spotify, youtube, and more platforms. 

These segments will be airing on the S.E.Live365 /Dayton 24-7 Sports Podcast (starting this week) and TV Series which will re-launch at the beginning of February.

The winners will be honored, with Deon Cash and the sponsors of the selected category arriving to hand out the award  at the Recipents choice of location. 

 It will either be given at a apractice, before or halftime of a game, at Dayton24-7 Now Sports Podcast studio, or at a sponsored location to be determined.

They will be featured on the show and will be interviewed by the S.E.Live Team after their feats. The campaign will last through March.

The Clark State Eagles were able to grab a much needed win over Wilmington JV earlier in the week by a score of 101-98.

Clark State would jump out to a big lead at half (53-40) as the offense would find its rhythm, led by Isaiah Masteller and David Mensah. 

In the 2nd half Wilmington would make a couple of runs, cutting the lead down to where they had a chance to tie the game up. The Eagles defense clamped up to get their 5th victory on the season, ending a 3-game losing streak.

"This one felt good, and was much needed." Coach Alstork stated. 

 "It's our last game before the end of the year and holidays. We wanted to end it on a positive note going into the new season."

After a tough weekend, the Eagles were led by All American candidate Masteller, who had a season high 35 points to go with 5 rebounds and 5 assists. G-F David Mensah had a very good night as well, contributing 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists in the win.

Forward Brandon Miller added a double double (15pts, 12 reb) while Tobias Thompson added 13 in the win. 

The Eagles won't play until the 6th of January, where they will face Wilmington before getting back into OCCAC action later, where they will go on the road to face Lakeland on the 12th.

 

NEW RULES GIVES KIDS MORE YEARS FOR JUCO 

In a shocking story, there has been a injunction where all junior colleges will not be counted as a year of eligibility for kids who want to play college ball on the D-1, D-2, or D-3 level. 

So kids who want to develop their skills, get a chance to play at the next level, without giving up their eligibility for four-year colleges will be thrilled to hear this news. 

While we haven't spoken to Coach Alstork or coach Almond about the news, this is surely about to give Clark State a boost to help elevate the program for years to come.

 Easter Shrugs Off Rankings, Dominates La Lumiere In A Great Weekend in Kentucky

Jerry Easter shrugged off the shade of the latest ESPN rankings, and went out this weekend and provided the leadership and playmaking that will get Link Academy back to the Scholar League Championship. 

Link Academy lost a couple games, and for some reason, the ESPN rankings dropped Easter again going into the early portion of the season.

La Lumiere, the team he played for last year, tried to say he wasn't a team player or wasn't a point guard. However, Easter lead that team in points, rebounds, assists and steals last season. 

The reports are different at Link Academy, where the coach has said that Easter has a "Next Level" work ethic and skill set, is a team player,  and that they were extremely excited to have Easter running the show.

And boy did he, as he silenced the experts who continue to inexplicably drop Easter in those ESPN rankings. It also was verification to his old team who threw shade his way with a Masterclass performance in Kentucky, which had to make Easter, USC and the Easter team feel vindication.

He had 17 points, 10 dimes 4 rebounds and dominated the tone of the game. 

He also silenced the doubters and hit a couple of 3-pointers (2-2) as well going 7-8 overall as Link Academy defeated La Lumiere.  

He would follow that up with another dominating performance, in which he was the player of the game in another big win.

Whenever someone challenges Easter, he usually rises to that challenge. And wins in the process. 

No matter what Easter has done recently, the experts seem to continue to drop him in the polls.  Despite that, Easter rolled out his best performance of the season in Kenucky.  

While the Easter camp is baffled by the recent rankings, they love the mentality that Easter II is developing and that his ultimate goal is not about rankings, but about winning. 

That seems to be the misconception. 

But Easter has made that crystal clear to everyone, especially USC, La Lumiere, ESPN, Link Academy, and anyone else who is near and dear to the 4-star McDonalds All-American candidate, that the only thing he truly cares about is winning. 

Easter is one of those players who has been a legit star since middle school. So the hype, the pressure, the accolades? He's accustomed to it. 

And speaking of Mcdonalds All-American talk, look at his resume. Very few hoopers in the country have the accolades and this type of resume.

Recent Games Shows "Top 40" Player in 27 Class Could Be Ready For Breakout Season

Griffin Starks, one of the top sophomores in the country, had another good weekend early in the High School campaign down at a showcase event in Kentucky.

Starks is a 6'9,  long, lanky, skilled forward with a load of potential. He has legit big time D-1 offers and plenty of interest, but still had work to do last summer.

He was long, but not strong. He had a skillset, but there was too much flash, and not enough grit. He could make shots but not consistently. He was still learning the game and searching to unlock his true potential.  

Starks is a just turned 15-year old sensation, and he is soft spoken. But recently Griffin has started to grow into  young man status from being a young teen, which will bear some responsibility as he will be recruited heavily over the next few years. 

Coming from a athletic family background where his older brother played D-1 football and his sister played college hoops as well, it's in the genes. 

After a rigorous schedule this summer which included the EYBL & Adidas circuit and some trips to Philly, Starks started to put definition in his game, his body, and in his preparation.  

The hard work is paying off, as he is starting to show the glimpses that have some of the top colleges and NBA executives looking, along with some NBA players who have AAU programs.

Starks who is currently at Newport HS in Kentucky, is the leading scorer, rebounder, defender, FG &  3-Point shooter for the 3-1 squad heading into the week. 

With star G Taylen McKinney transferring before th season, it has dropped more responsibility on the sophomores broad shoulders. 

He's coming off a huge game and weekend where he dropped 17-9-3 while shutting down one of the top players in the country in Ryan Wingard in getting the win. 

Wingard, who was averaging over 20ppg, was held to just 4 points as Starks did most of the defending against the Top 20 player in his class.

As Starks navigates through his HS journey, he will face more guys who are ranked higher and will face bigger and bigger challenges. 

When watching from a distance, Starks has all the pure tools the NBA loves.  He reminds you of Wemby with his skillset, style of play, and demeanor on the court. 

But it's the drive that has been instilled in him this last calendar year which will send him up the charts over the next 3 seasons. 

Starks is a Top 50 player in the ESPN 2027 HS hoop rankings, but is as high as 30 in other national publications, which could be a sign for the talented prospect. 

He should be a Top 25 prospect by the summer.  

He's also a Top 10 player in the Northern Kenucky / Cincinnati area. As a sophomore, that definitely is a statement.

Eagles Look to Get Back in OCCAC Race Today; Grab Big Win Over Cedarville 

 The Clark State Mens team used a big win to get back into position as they head into the OCCAC portion of the season.

After a tough road loss to Edison State on the road, the Eagles bounced back with a great effort in defeating Cedaville 112-85.

That was their biggest scoring effort of the season.

While Isaiah Masteller led the Eagles with a elite scoring night, it was the defense and execution which lead to victory. 

With the win the Eagles now sit at 4-5 as they look to even their record in the season and in the OCCAC (1-2). 

Coach Alstork would speak recently.

"We needed that win. We have to keep fighting, and figuring out a way to stay in the race. We had to tighten some things up, switch it up a little bit. It worked against Cedarville and we hope we can continue that against Owens."

Owens defeated Clark State in Springfield, so the Eagles will be on the road today. 

The game is at 11am at Owens C.C.,  followed by the women's game at 1pm. 

ITS OFFICIAL; Jerry Easter II Signs With USC; Why Did Easter Decide on USC and Not Ohio State or Oregon??

 Jerry Easter II, one of the biggest recruits to come out the state of Ohio recently, has decided to go to USC, ending the speculation of him going to Ohio State. 

 Easter decided to make the announcement during the road trip as they face #1 ranked A.J. Dybansta and his elite squad in Utah tonight.

Easter, who had over 50 D-1 offers, was coveted by a bevy of top tier schools, decided on his Top 6:

Oregon, Ohio State, USC, SMU, and Vanderbilt along with Miami.

The Buckeyes had originally went hard after top recruit Darryn Peterson, but lost out on him to Kansas. 

Once they lost on Peterson, they decided to make a late push for Easter II, but ultimately, Easter II and his family decided on USC.

Eric Musselman, who recruited Easter heavily at Arkansas, is now at the helm at USC. USC has gotten some high profile recruits lately, such as Scoot Henderson, Bronny James, and now, Easter II. 

Easter will probably be given the ball from Day 1, which was important for Easter as he is leading the top team in the country (Link Academy) at the point guard spot. 

"I liked that Mussleman continued to recruit me, even when he left Arkansas. Sometimes that don't happen like that when coaches go to a new school.

 I liked his energy. He has a great track record." 

While Diebler and Ohio State made a legitimate run at Easter, it was the loyalty and commitment to Easter early in the process that fueled Jerry to head to Southern California. 

Easter is ranked Top 30 in the class, but is arguably a Top 15 player.  For some reason he dropped from 20 to 31 in the ESPN rankings  despite leading Nationally ranked prep school La Lumiere in points, rebounds, assists, and steals last season in the EYBL Scholar League. 

La Lumiere has 2 kids in the top 20 of 2025 rankings, which is baffling how Easter dropped below them after leading the team to a #6 National ranking. 

However, this summer NBA great Kyrie Irving, watched him play, took a liking to Easter and took him under his wing.  It has helped Easter II immensely throughout the process. 

Easter, and his family, is now relieved that the process is over, and has already signed. 

For Ohio State, they were able to get Dorian Jones, a top tier wing player from Northeast Ohio. 

But to lose the top 2 players from Ohio in Peterson and Easter II will sting.

 Easter II and Link Acadmey looks to knock off Dybansta and his team to stay undefeated tonight.  

Congrats to Easter II, who's a soft spoken kid with a dynamic game that translates to the next two levels.
